ITO EN Koto no Tsuki (20g) Matcha — Rich & Refined for Koicha

A rich Japanese matcha particularly suited to Koicha (thick matcha).

Prepared with a generous amount of matcha and less water, Koto no Tsuki develops a deep, full-bodied character without becoming overwhelmingly bitter. Its richness is followed by a pleasant sweetness that lingers gently on the palate.

It can be enjoyed traditionally as Koicha, but its fuller flavor also works beautifully in a rich matcha latte, where the character of the matcha remains present alongside the milk.

For those who would like to experience a deeper side of Japanese matcha, Koto no Tsuki offers an excellent balance of richness, gentle bitterness and lingering sweetness.

How to Prepare Koicha

For one serving

• Matcha: approx. 4 g
• Hot water: approx. 30–40 ml
• Water temperature: approx. 75–80°C (167–176°F)

1. Warm the matcha bowl with hot water, then empty and dry it.
2. Sift approximately 4 g of matcha into the bowl.
3. Add a small amount of hot water.
4. Using a bamboo whisk (chasen), slowly knead the matcha and water together until smooth and glossy.
5. Add a little more hot water if needed to reach a thick, flowing consistency.

Unlike Usucha, Koicha is not whisked to create foam. It is slowly kneaded into a rich, smooth consistency.

Because Koicha uses approximately twice as much matcha as Usucha, one serving delivers a much more concentrated matcha experience.

Tip: Koto no Tsuki can also be used for a rich matcha latte. Adjust the amount of matcha and milk according to your preferred strength.

Shipping rates vary by quantity for orders of up to 10 tins. For orders of 10 to 30 tins, the shipping rate remains the same.
